The Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) respects the privacy of the users of our Web site.
We do not collect personal information about you when you visit our Web sites, unless you voluntarily provide us with the information. We do collect and store certain information automatically, as do most Web servers. We automatically collect and store only the following information about your visit:
- The Internet domain and IP address from which you access our Web site
- The type of browser and operating system used to access our site
- The date and time you access our site
- The pages you visit
- If you linked to our Web site from another Web site, the address of that Web site
We may use the information we collect for statistical purposes only to determine popularity of sections of the Web site, as well as reviewing total number of users on a monthly basis. We also may track the keywords that are entered into our search engine service to measure interest in specific topics, but we do not track which terms a particular user enters.
We do not give, share, sell, or transfer any personal information to a third party, unless we are legally required to do so.
Personal information will remain confidential except when the information is given as part of the Public Comment/Public Review Process and Unmet Transit Needs Process. We may request personal information, in the following instances: when you submit comments, request data/documents, register for an RFP, subscribe to the Regional Report or Sacramento Region, and subscribe to email alerts for Employment, RFPs, and New Releases. This personal information may include your name, e-mail address, phone number, street address, etc. Home addresses are strictly confidential.
When you register to become a carpooler, the certain address information is required. A contact phone number for public release is required so participants without an e-mail can contact you, but you choose which one. This can be either your work or home phone number. When your name appears on a matchlist, all we display is your name, city, zip code, e-mail address, and the phone number you have provided. Home addresses are strictly confidential.
Public Comment/Public Review Process and Unmet Transit Needs Process
As part of the Public Comment/Public Review Process, and the Unmet Transit Needs Process, users are asked for their name, email address, and comments. This information may be included in publically released documents. This information is considered to be part of the Public Record. Please be aware that if you comment on documents during the review process your name, email address, and comments may become public.
Invite a friend to join – Sacramento Region
The Sacramento Region (SACOG’s e-newsletter) has an option to allow users to invite a friend to join. If this option is used, SACOG requests the user’s first and last name, email address and the email address of the friend. A one-time email of the current issue of the Sacramento Region will be sent to the friend. Included in the email will be information about subscribing and your friend will not be subscribed unless he requests it. SACOG will not store the information and will use the address for the sole purpose of inviting the friend to join.
Emails sent to subscribers of SACOG’s email lists will include information on how to unsubscribe from the email list. If at any time the user would like to unsubscribe, they can return to the web page where they originally subscribed and unsubscribe, or an email can be sent to the webmaster at firstname.lastname@example.org. The user should include the name of the email list that they would like to unsubscribe from.
Submitting questions or comments
If you send us an email with a question or comment, we will use your email only to respond to your request. Your email may be forwarded to another staff member who is better qualified to answer your question.
