SACOG Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Strategic Deployment Plan (SDP)Over the next six months, elected officials, transportation and land use planners, and engineers will be asked for input on how they might use ITS to achieve transportation, as well as, land use objectives. Outreach and education workshops will set a broad planning context and examine how ITS may enhance the success of local and regional land use and transportation plans (e.g., making Bus Rapid Transit operational, or relieving congested corridors). ITS projects will then be designed and incorporated into the MTP and MTIP. This effort will meet the Federal Highway Administration's requirement to mainstream ITS in the planning process. Moreover, the SDP will provide the region with a menu of ITS applications that can be used in future transportation and land use plans.
