MTP2035 -- The Next Step in Blueprint

Public Participation Plan

The Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) is committed to effectively involving the public in its transportation planning and programming activities. As part of the Metropolitan Transportation Plan, SACOG is currently developing a new Public Participation Plan (PPP).

The PPP is a requirement that must be met prior to adopting the MTP in order to comply with the federal transportation act, SAFETEA-LU (Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient, Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users).

The PPP has thee purposes:

  1. To inform the public about regional transportation issues
  2. To establish the process that allows the public to provide input
  3. To identify how SACOG's transportation related programs reflect the region's priorities.

The PPP is designed to assist SACOG staff in implementing an effective public process through a variety of strategies. It provides a menu of activities to select from to tailor specific program needs. The PPP is being developed with the input and assistance of various public agencies and community based organizations.
